Clinical Neurophysiology: Volume 145 to Volume 156
Clinical Neurophysiology is a distinguished publication dedicated to disseminating scholarly reports that delve into the underlying pathophysiology of diseases affecting the peripheral and central nervous system in humans. The journal places a special emphasis on neurophysiological measures used as endpoints in clinical trials, as well as integrated neuroimaging techniques that shed light on the functions of both the peripheral and central nervous systems. Neuroimaging modalities such as functional MRI, brain mapping, MEG, EEG, PET, ultrasound, and others are encompassed within this scope. Studies focusing on normal human neurophysiology are also welcomed if they contribute to our understanding of disease or clinical applications. Studies involving animals and technical reports must be directly relevant to human disease. Case reports may be considered but primarily as “Letters-to-the-Editor” if they offer a significant advancement of knowledge.
The spectrum covered by Clinical Neurophysiology includes, but is not limited to:
- Epilepsy
- Developmental clinical neurophysiology
- Psychophysiology and psychopathology
- Motor control and movement disorders
- Somatosensory disorders including pain
- Motor neuron diseases
- Neuromuscular diseases
- Neuropathies
- Sleep and disorders of consciousness
- Auditory and vestibular disorders
- Aging
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Other dementias
- Other psychiatric disorders
- Autonomic disorders
- Neural plasticity and recovery
- Intraoperative and ICU monitoring
- Therapeutic clinical neurophysiology, including non-invasive and invasive brain stimulation
All studies featured in Clinical Neurophysiology are expected to make a substantial and independent contribution to the existing literature. The journal places a lower priority on “pilot” or “preliminary” studies, as well as negative studies that do not advance the field’s knowledge.
Additionally, the journal prefers to consider reports with a focus on education or clinical practice, case reports, methodological and technical reports, and studies that provide normative data on healthy subjects in its companion journal, Clinical Neurophysiology Practice. This helps ensure a comprehensive coverage of research and practical insights in the realm of clinical neurophysiology.
