Current Developments in Nutrition: Volume 4 (Issue 1 to Issue 12)
Current Developments in Nutrition (CDN) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes a wide range of scholarly works in the field of nutritional sciences. It encompasses original research articles, brief communications, reports on research methodology, commentaries, and reviews that aim to swiftly review, publish, and disseminate high-quality research in the field of nutrition. CDN is the official monthly publication of the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) and covers various animal species and topics ranging from deep mechanistic studies at the molecular, biochemical, and cellular levels to whole-body metabolism, clinical health, fitness, and population health.
The journal focuses on the following areas with added emphasis:
- Research Methodology and Study Design: Manuscripts discussing research methodology and study design, offering new tools for research and emphasizing their immediate practical relevance, are encouraged. These should describe innovative approaches, validation, and their application to important biological or policy questions.
- Implementation Science: These articles report on methodologically sound process and impact evaluations of programs at scale. Qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method studies are welcomed, as well as program costing and cost-effectiveness studies of relevance for scaling up.
- Food and Nutrition Policy: Manuscripts exploring the links between emerging nutrition science and the design or implementation of food and nutrition policies and programs are encouraged. These can focus on the US or international context, particularly in terms of delivery science.
- Brief Communications: These include Research Reports (concise descriptions of studies that are complete but limited in scope) and Case Study Reports (concise reports of novel or unusual findings that may impact clinical practice).
- Food/Feed Composition, Nutritional Value & Toxicology: Manuscripts reporting the chemical composition and nutritional value of human foods and animal feedstuffs, as well as their stability and impacts on nutritional value due to environmental conditions, processing, packaging, and storage.
- Food & Nutrition of Indigenous Peoples: CDN seeks to publish the best scholarship in this area, covering the connections among food, nutrition, and wellness of Indigenous peoples globally. This includes research studies, community-based participatory research, and investigations into tribal and federal policies’ impact on food access and health.
The journal provides a platform for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to disseminate their work and encourages a broad discussion in the field of nutritional sciences, including basic and applied research. CDN is committed to rapid publication, open access, and the international dissemination of high-quality research. All manuscripts with scientific content undergo peer review before acceptance.
Please note that all manuscripts and communication for CDN should be in English.
