Die geburtshilfliche Betreuung von Frauen mit Fluchterfahrung: Eine qualitative Untersuchung zum professionellen Handeln geburtshilflicher Akteur*innen (German Edition) (PDF Book)
By Anne Kasper
Women with refugee experience in the phase of becoming a mother have an increased need for health care due to their pregnancy. Experiences related to flight can represent a physical and psychosocial burden in this phase of life. Obstetric actors support the physiological processes of becoming a mother through their professional work. The aim of the research project was to examine the design of obstetric care for women who have fled. Obstetric actors see that there is an increased need for psychosocial care. In addition, there are challenging working conditions due to complex structures within the asylum procedure and problems in communication in the environment of women with refugee experience. These influence the area of action and responsibility as well as the interaction patterns in the care. The research results show that midwifery actors respond with adjustments in their actions towards refugee women, which include modifying, maintaining, and refraining from well-established actions.
